Dovetail is proud to announce that its technical manager Francois van Rensburg was nominated as one of the five finalists for the 2014 Rising Star Awards, which took place on the 28th July, 2014 at the Sandton Hilton and welcomed over 300 key business stakeholders from across South Africa, including the Rising Stars themselves.
In order to reach the finals, van Rensburg had to progress through two phases of independent judging and a two and a half hour interview in front of senior business executives which then qualified him as one of the top 5 talented young people in the sector ‘Logistics & Supply Chain’ between the ages of 28 and 40 in the country.
Organisations who participated in this event included Standard Bank, Sasol, Acsa, Business Connexion, Arcelor Mittal and many more.
“Dovetail is very proud to host such talent among its workforce and continuously aims to uplift and nourish the young talent that walks through its doors,” notes Dovetail Business Development Director, Shermandra Singh.
He adds that the logistics industry is a challenging and dynamic sector, stressing the requirement for vibrant individuals that are quick decision makers, analytically oriented and passionate about the field.
“Working in the logistics industry can be challenging as constant evolvement, innovation and adjustments are needed for logistics and supply chain strategies and processes. However, the people that work and succeed in this field are passionate about the logistics industry and realise the important role that it plays in our economy and future growth,” Singh explains.
Van Rensburg started working at Dovetail in 2004 and has since made great strides in improving the company’s technical eco system and ensuring an effective and pro-active technical team for both the company and its clients.
“The logistics industry is vast with many different fields and opportunities for young people to grow in,” van Rensburg stresses, adding that awards and affiliations are a great way to showcase South Africa’s talent and encourage young people to join the logistics industry and make a difference as this sector serves as the backbone of the African continents’ economy.
